Description: The Chicago World's Fair, officially titled the A Century of Progress International Exposition, was a world's fair held in Chicago in 1933 and 1934. The exposition, which formally opened on May 27, 1933, commemorated the city's centennial, celebrated technological advancements, and showcased modern living and consumerism. Its theme was "Science Finds, Industry Applies, Man Conforms," emphasizing the role of science and technology in shaping the future. Originally, the fair was scheduled only to run until November 12, 1933, but it was so successful that it was opened again to run from May 26 to October 31, 1934. Still mired in the malaise of the Great Depression, visitors could glimpse a happier, not-too-distant future.
Description: First Chicago Bank was a Chicago-based retail and commercial bank tracing its roots to 1863, when it received one of the first charters under the then new National Bank Act. Over the years, the bank operated under several names including The First National Bank of Chicago and First Chicago NBD (following its 1995 merger with the former National Bank of Detroit). In 1998, First Chicago NBD merged with Banc One Corporation to form Bank One Corporation, today a part of Chase.
