Description: Hobo Joe’s Coffee Shop existed in a time long before the term 'coffee shop' evoked thoughts of overpriced espresso drinks sold in hipster friendly spaces to a soft alt-rock soundtrack. Coffee shops of the '60s and '70s were more akin to diners and cafés, usually open later than most restaurants or even all night. Hobo Joe’s was just that and after opening the first location in 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona, the coffee shop became a hit and grew to include dozens of locations throughout the state, each of which included a life-size statue of 'Hobo Joe' standing out front, a few of which included his named canine companion. There were also a few locations that received 20+ foot tall statues, one of which still stands in Buckeye, Arizona today.
