Description: The USS Discovery (NCC-1031) was a Crossfield-class starship operated by the Federation Starfleet in the 23rd century, initially under the command of Captain Gabriel Lorca and, later, Christopher Pike. (DIS: "Context Is for Kings", "What's Past Is Prologue", "Brother") After time traveling to the 32nd century, Discovery underwent a three week retrofit and was recommissioned with the registry NCC-1031-A under the command of Captain Saru. (DIS: "Far From Home", "People of Earth", "Scavengers"). Over time, owing to her fusion with the Sphere data, she became a fully fledged artificial intelligence. She experienced emotions, worked with the crew, and chose her own name, Zora.
Description: A recreation of the badge worn by the crew aboard spacecraft Discovery One from the 1968 science fiction film 2001 A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick. This iconic badge appears in all acts of the film abreast the space suits of Moonwatcher, Dr. Heywood Floyd, Dr. David Bowman, and Dr. Frank Poole. HAL 9000.
Description: Discovery is the Element of finding and exploring new concepts and things. It can be simultaneously positive and dangerous. Discovering a cowpie positioned precariously in front of your house isn't quite as life-enriching as discovering a brand new element, or an uneaten pastry in your pantry. A few casters fly under the banner of this Element as a commitment to better understand Magic. Discovery's Temperament is considerably more jovial than most Elements. It's hard to hurt its feelings when it knows great things are in store for the caster down the road. Whether it will be discovering what being a parent is like, or experiencing death, it seems Discovery will always have the last laugh.
Description: HAL 9000 (or simply HAL or Hal) is a fictional artificial intelligence character and the main antagonist in Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series. First appearing in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, HAL (Heuristically Programmed Algorithmic Computer) is a sentient artificial general intelligence computer that controls the systems of the Discovery One spacecraft and interacts with the ship's astronaut crew. While part of HAL's hardware is shown toward the end of the film, he is mostly depicted as a camera lens containing a red and yellow dot, with such units located throughout the ship. Description: Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands. Loch Ness is best known for alleged sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known affectionately as "Nessie". It is connected at the southern end by the River Oich and a section of the Caledonian Canal to Loch Oich. At the northern end there is the Bona Narrows which opens out into Loch Dochfour, which feeds the River Ness and a further section of canal to Inverness, ultimately leading to the North Sea via the Moray Firth. It is one of a series of interconnected, murky bodies of water in Scotland; its water visibility is exceptionally low due to a high peat content in the surrounding soil.
