Gringo, the rescued pigeon Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''We saw the post in Palomacy’s Facebook page that a grounded pigeon had been found, and the rescuer didn’t know what to do. After seeing the pain in his eyes on a picture, Memo decided to drive 7 hours to pick that handsome up. From the moment he arrived he never once lost his dignity despite the agonizing pain and loss he suffered keeping his head up and eyes piercing through us almost trying to teach an important lesson with his humble acceptance of a new reality… He’s acted as if he’s lived in here with us all his life, at times making us feel like visitors him being the owner. Nowadays, he is discovering new things about living with us. He must be feeling good though as he started calling for a female already. We love him.''

A Bag of Seeds! Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''Urban environments often lack sufficient natural food sources for pigeons and other birds, forcing them to scavenge unhealthy scraps left by humans, which harm their health. Providing quality seeds every two/three days ensures that pigeons receive some proper nutrition. Pigeons contribute to the urban eco system by dispersing seeds and cleaning up organic matter. Healthy pigeon populations can maintain ecological balance. Cities are shared spaces for both humans and animals, providing food and dovecotes fosters a more humane and respectful relationship between people and pigeons.''

Fyodor, the rescued pigeon 1 Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''I had an intensely close bond with Fyodor since the moment we met, when he was so overwhelmed that I had put out such a gigantic spread of healthy bird snacks, that he flew up and hung in the air hovering in front of my face, then went back to the ground only to fly up again and hang in the air in front of my face again, and back down again. He did this four times in a row and then landed on my shoulder. We became inseparable from that moment on. He was the very first feral Rock dove to ever land on me or jump in my arms when he had just freshly fledged about a week or two prior. He was insanely jealous, and we also had a special telepathic communication. I miss him everyday.'' (Harvard University, Cambridge)

Not a Trick. Not a Toy. A Life. Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: Every time a pigeon is pulled from a hat, hidden under a magician’s cape, or forced into a routine for human entertainment, it is not magic—it is exploitation. Pigeons are living beings. Sensitive, intelligent, social creatures who feel fear, confusion, and pain just like any other animal. In magic acts, they are routinely stuffed into tight spaces, exposed to loud noises, bright lights, and sudden movements. They are often isolated, deprived of their natural behaviors, and discarded when they are no longer “useful.” This is trauma, masked as wonder. What we applaud as spectacle is, in truth, a repeated act of domination. Animals are not here for our amusement or to serve as tools of performance. For them, it is trauma, again and again.

Stevie, rescued pigeon 1 Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''Stevie is a strong-willed, loving soul. She bonded to me quickly. When I returned to work, I adopted Cher and Bruce so she would have company while I was out of the house, but she remains my "ride or die". I struggle with chronic illness and she is always by my side at my worst moments. When she is not sitting on the nest she loves to cuddle with me, keep me company, taste all the foods I'm eating, and hop around the apartment foraging for seeds or whatever else she finds. She even prefers to sleep in my room, sometimes on my bed, and have snuggles in the morning when we wake up. I'm so grateful for her'' (Sidney, NYC)

Your Litter, Their Lifeline Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: In cities around the world, pigeons suffer in silence, victims of a condition both preventable and cruel: stringfoot. Caused by human litter, thread, hair, string, fishing line, and other debris…this condition begins when these materials get caught around a pigeon’s toes or ankles. As the bird walks or flies, the material tightens, cutting off circulation, slowly strangling the limb, leading to infection, deformity, and often the eventual loss of a foot. Stringfoot is not natural. It’s not random. It’s caused by human neglect. Each piece of thread we drop, each tangle of hair left on the sidewalk, can become a noose. Disposing of waste properly, sweeping up hair and thread, spreading awareness can prevent immense suffering.

Dyed for Fun, Dying from Poison Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: This poster denounces a disturbing trend that has been spreading in silence: the cruel and senseless practice of dyeing pigeons in bright, unnatural colors for human amusement, ceremonies or aesthetic appeal. Often sprayed or dipped in toxic substances, these birds are not willing participants in a spectacle. Their feathers, designed by nature to regulate temperature and offer protection, become coated with chemicals that burn their skin, blind their eyes, and poison their bodies. What is momentary entertainment for some becomes a slow death for these gentle beings. Pigeons are not toys. They are sentient beings capable of deep bonds, intelligence, and feeling. Behind the paint lies suffering, fear, and a life being extinguished.

Pigeon Rehabbers, Healing the Wings of the City Hat
Main Tag:

Description: In the heart of our cities, amidst the noise and motion, there are quiet hands working miracles. Pigeon rehabbers are the guardians of a misunderstood species, feral pigeons who navigate our concrete jungles with grace and vulnerability, but also racing pigeons, or victims of pigeons releases or other cases of animal abuse. Each bird they rescue is a life saved, a piece of the urban ecosystem restored. Birds that cannot be released because of their injuries or handicaps will be adopted by loving families. Wrapped in soft towels, fed with care, and healed with love, these birds are given a second chance to soar. Supporting pigeon rehab means believing in coexistence. It means seeing beauty and value in all urban life.

Raced to Death Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: Pigeon racing is not a sport. It’s animal cruelty dressed in trophies and tradition. Racing pigeons are torn from their families to be used as pawns in a system that thrives on stress, fear, and loss. Their deep bonds are exploited — they’re made to race home from long, exhausting distances, chasing a reunion that may never come. Many never return. Those who do are often discarded if they don’t win — sold for dog training, left to starve, or killed by a snap of the neck. Each “lost” bird is a slave to the racing system. Do not call the number on their band. You’re not returning a pet, you’re sending them back to a life of high stress, suffering and trauma.

Your Ceremony Kills Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: “YOUR CEREMONY KILLS “©️Elodie M. Richard (16x20 inches poster) “A Beautiful Release? Or a Death Sentence?” The truth behind ceremonial bird releases. Every year, thousands of white pigeons are bought, handled, and released at weddings, baptisms, funerals, and other human celebrations. It looks symbolic. It feels poetic. But for the birds, it’s a tragedy. These birds are not wild. They are domestic pigeons bred in captivity, without the instincts or skills to survive in nature. When they are released, they face starvation, predators, disorientation, exhaustion, and often a slow, terrifying death. They die alone so people can take pictures. They suffer so moments can look “pure.” They are used, then discarded by the sky.

Pigeon Rescue, Protect Life, Heal the Streets Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: Every day, in cities around the world, feral pigeons struggle to survive, injured by nets, poisoned, starved, or simply ignored. These intelligent, gentle birds have shared our streets for centuries. They are part of the urban ecosystem, not pests to be erased. Pigeon rescue is not just about saving one bird. It’s about reclaiming our humanity. It’s about coexisting, caring, and acknowledging that all species have a place in our cities. Each act of compassion , feeding a hungry pigeon, freeing a trapped one, or educating others, is a step toward healing our fractured relationship with nature. We must speak up for the voiceless. Pigeons need allies. Cities need compassion. The future needs people who care.

Ollie, the rescued pigeon 3 Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''This is Ollie. Ollie is disabled and was hatched this way. Ollie cannot stand still, nor walk like a typical pigeon, or fly BUT since his young age he has been developing his incredible resilience and strong willed temper, this little bird had absolutely the will to live and energy to move mountains. Ollie is total pure cuteness, he captures the heart of humans who have the chance to get to know him. Ollie loves to cuddle, and is also very playful. He is deeply loved by his human mother Adrienne who is wonderfully taking care of him. We love Ollie!!!'' Location: Bay Area of California, USA

Pickles, the rescued pigeon 2 Hat
Main Tag:

Description: ''Pickles joins our family on every adventure, including camping trips. He stands on my left knee when he’s hungry, and gently pecks my hand to make sure I know he’s ready to eat. He is perpetually busy building nests for himself, and because he doesn’t understand he’s a pigeon, doesn’t want the company of a pigeon mate or to sit on fake eggs. Pickles the Pigeon is arguably the happiest, most loved creature on this planet. He enjoys baths, sunshine, socks, stuffed animals, and anything red. He hates car rides and opossums. We will probably never know why he is so special, only that he is. I am Dion and we live in San Francisco, CA, USA. We run benicetopigeons.org. I work at WildCare in San Rafael and volunteer with Palomacy ''

Stop The Netting Protest Hat
Main Tag:

Description: Every year, thousands of pigeons die slowly—trapped, starved, broken—because of the cruel nets installed on buildings or individuals catching them to sell them as live targets to hunting ranges. Pigeons get caught by their wings, their feet, their necks. They hang there, invisible to the indifferent, until they die from exhaustion, thirst, or pain. Their bodies rot in plain sight, or worse—out of sight, behind metal and mesh. When sold to shooting ranges, wings get clipped so no escape. Pigeons are not pests. They are survivors of our cities, descendants of birds we once worshipped, trusted, and sent to carry messages in times of war and peace. This is silent slaughter torture and murder. © Elodie M.
