Description: One of the eight ruined cottages at Worbarrow Bay (Dorset, England). The residents of Worbarrow and the nearby village of Tyneham were required to leave their homes here in 1943 as the Ministry of Defence requisitioned the surrounding land for use as a military firing range. The villages are open to the public on certain days but visitors are advised to keep to official footpaths due to the risk of unexploded ordnance. One imagines that despite the idyllic but isolated coastal setting, it would have been tough to make a living here from the land and sea. 27th May 2026.
Description: Charmouth Beach, Dorset, September 2021 A warm, sunny afternoon in September at Charmouth Beach (West Dorset, England). The building above the sea wall is the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, where young (and old) visitors can learn all about the fossils discovered on this part of the Jurassic Coast, between here and Lyme Regis, to the west. You can go on a fossil hunting expedition and (if you're lucky) you might even discover a new species of dinosaur (like the redhilldigisaurus, or the one-eyed doyouthinkhesaurus)!
