Stepping distance away are: a landing stage for lake cruises to Bowness and Ambleside; the Lakes Aquarium; and the terminus of the Lakeside & Haverthwaite steam railway. Grizedale Forest, with a Go Ape course and mountain-biking trails, pretty Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter’s home, are around 20 minutes by car.
