Description: Porto or Oporto is the second-largest city in Portugal and one of the Iberian Peninsula's major urban areas. Porto city is small compared to its metropolitan area, with a population of 237,559 people. Porto's metropolitan area has an estimated 2.4 million people (2019) in an area of 2,395 km2 (925 sq mi), making it the second-largest urban area in Portugal. It is recognized as a gamma-level global city by the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Study Group, the only Portuguese city besides Lisbon to be recognised as a global city. Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres.

Here we are next to the Dom Louis I Bridge which links the main city on the north bank with Villa Nova de Gaia on the south. On the far bank are found the warehouses and offices of world-famous port wine companies - well worth a visit! The Douro itself rises in Spain and after flowing into the north of Portugal joins the Atlantic Ocean at Porto.
Description: Porto is beautiful I was born and raised here, and I can’t get tired of it. The city has a mystical vibe that it’s hard to put in words. The morning fog, the tiny downtown streets, the narrow houses, the retired ladies at the grocery shop, the seagulls stealing tourists' food… just to name a few of its special delights. And I’m not even referencing the food!
