Description: The Sky River Rock Festival and Lighter Than Air Fair was a historic rock festival first held on a raspberry farm on the Skykomish River just outside Sultan, Washington between August 31 and September 2 in 1968. The event was put on by The Helix Magazine, and was actually the first multi-day outdoor music festival at an undeveloped site. The line-up included about 50 artists, many of which were pretty big names then and continue to be well known today. Sky River would have two more festivals in subsequent years, the second in Tenino, and the third in Washougal, both of which are rather rural Washington State locations. An interesting note about the third one is that it was one of the longest-duration festivals, lasting ten full days.
