Description: Some of us really love the movie 2010: the year we make contact, and we love SAL, computer HAL 9000's twin sister. She and Dr. Chandra got together and figured out how to safely reconnect HAL, and for that HAL owes her a debt of gratitude. SAL is great!

Description: SAL is the earth-based equivalent of HAL 9000. SAL was involved in the analysis of mission data from the Discovery mission to Jupiter in 2001, and failed to find the fault in the vessel's AE-35 Unit that HAL had predicted.
