The Slope Hats
Description: A small pika rests among broken rocks and sparse alpine flowers. The scene is interpreted as a rough vintage linocut with compact torn panels, visible carved texture and softly misregistered colour in cream, navy, teal and rust. Keywords: pika, american pika, talus slope, alpine wildlife, rustic nature, woodblock print style.
Description: After WWII had come to an end, wartime rationing and conservation were over, and Americans were ready to hit the road and see the sights. Travel stickers became a popular souvenir of the places people visited and could be found at most service stations, landmarks, motels, and restaurants along America’s highways. Whether they were stuck on luggage, into albums, or right on the family car, these stickers were a ubiquitous sight for years to come. This one is based on a design celebrating Oregon's Timberline Lodge which opened its doors back in 1938. If it looks familiar, it might be because the exterior views of Timberline Lodge were used in 1980s The Shining, the film adaptation of the 1977 novel set at the fictional Overlook Hotel.
Description: Cornell University is a private Ivy League research university located in Ithaca, New York. Founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White, it is unique for being both a privately endowed institution and the federal land-grant university of New York State. This "radical democratic vision" is captured in its founding motto: "I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study".
Description: A silhouetted cyclist with a backpack and helmet rides a bicycle up a steep, dark slope. Behind the cyclist are teal-colored mountains, pine trees, clouds, and a large orange sun partially obscured by clouds.
