Thoth Hats
Description: This hand-carved block print depicts the Ancient Egyptian god Thoth in his Ibis form. The image is based on an original illustration from a papyrus of the Book of the Dead created in the 19th Dynasty. He is holding a neb sign (a basket) with an ankh (the symbol of life) and two was scepters (a symbol of power or well-being for a deceased person.) I've recreated this as a block print and printed it by hand before scanning it to create this design.

But he is a very real, indispensable historical figure regarding the birth of civilization on this planet. In Egypt he is mostly depicted in human form with the head of an Ibis, and sometimes as a baboon. This public domain image of an Egyptian stone carving was perfect for artistic modification in order to represent the light around him - in terms of frequency and illumination.
