Description: Theobald Wolfe Tone, posthumously known as Wolfe Tone (20 June 1763 – 19 November 1798), was a leading Irish revolutionary figure and one of the founding members of the United Irishmen, a republican society that revolted against British rule in Ireland, where he was a leader going into the 1798 Irish Rebellion. He was captured at Lough Swilly, near Buncrana, County Donegal on 3 November 1798, and was sentenced to death on 19 November by hanging. He died seven days later in unclear circumstances. It has since been theorised and agreed upon by most Irish scholars that he committed suicide while in prison.

Most popular in the 1960s, they were famed for their trademark Aran jumpers and are widely credited with popularising Irish traditional music in the United States and revitalising it in Ireland, paving the way for an Irish folk boom with groups like the Dubliners and the Wolfe Tones. Description: "Come Out, Ye Black and Tans" (sometimes "Come Out, Ye Black and Tan") is an Irish rebel song referring to the Black and Tans, the British paramilitary police auxiliary force of the RIC in Ireland during the 1920s. The song was written by Dominic Behan as a tribute to his father Stephen, although authorship of the song is often attributed to Stephen. The melody was adapted from an old air, "Rosc Catha na Mumhan" (Irish for "Battlecry of Munster") by Piaras Mac Gearailt (Pierce FitzGerald, c.1709-c.1792), which is also used for the loyalist song, "The Boyne Water," as well as several other songs in English and Irish.
