Vanishing Post-War Hull Hoodie

Buildings anchor us, they are the backdrop of our early lives, solid, immutable, rocks to hold onto, images burned into our souls. Many memories are set inside public buildings, and when they vanish a part of us grieves. For me, Hull is a collection of post-war buildings, blended with the Victorian relics that survived devastating bombing. Huge department stores I can picture to this day, the strong smells of coffee and cheese from the food halls, delicatessens, and shelves of toys, cafés serving cakes and scones and orangeade so fizzy that it hurt my nostrils.
