Part of a collection of flags I made, local variations on the rainbow flag, celebrating LGBTQ Pride in each and all the nations where I have lived or which are dear to my heart. California is, to me, an ideal as much as a physical place, a concept and a philosophy as much as geography. A culture, and a worldview. California is a state of mind. Why make the bear pink? Why not keep him brown? I fiddled around with multiple versions of the flag. In the end, the pink bear looked better: nicer contrast, and frankly, he looks more fun that way. :)
