Doberman Pinschers are a German breed created in the 1880s by Karl Dobermann, a German tax collector who wanted a fearsome looking dog to protect himself. This aesthetic is often aided by the docking of tails and cropping of ears, which gives them an angular, powerful look. Naturally, the dog has floppy ears and a long tail. Many countries do not allow the cosmetic altering, although it is still breed standard in many clubs.
