Weighing more than 7 tons, the piece of sandstone rock was originally deposited in the ice age on Spaunton Moor. It was transported and erected on Danby High Moor to mark the millennium and has a carving AD MM on the reverse. After the stone was errected it was discovered that some of the indentations on the stone are actually dinosaur footprints. It certainly doesn't look out of place amongst the moorland heather.
