New Lanark Houses Hoodie

A row of former Mill Worker's houses at New Lanark World Heritage Site, a beautifully restored 18th century cotton mill village in Southern Scotland. New Lanark is open to the public and is a wonderful living museum which in its heyday was a shining example of the benefits of treating your workers as people. Most of the village is part of the museum, but these houses are lived in. The village first rose to fame when Robert Owen was mill manager from 1800-1825. Owen transformed life in New Lanark with ideas and opportunities which were at least a hundred years ahead of their time. Child labour and corporal punishment were abolished, and villagers were provided with decent homes, schools and free health care.
