Its route will begin on the northern coast of Siberia ( Taimyr Peninsula , Laptev Sea ) with an initial direction from south to north. After a large loop across the Arctic Ocean , and closely touching the North Pole a few tens of km away (where the Sun will be 98.6% hidden), its direction will reverse due south crossing the northeast of the Greenland , to gradually move eastward and reach its maximum off the northwest coast of Iceland . Then, it will cross the North Atlantic to reach northern Spain in the local evening and finish at sunset in the Balearic Islands.
