Description: Designated in 1956 amidst the geopolitical shifting of the Cold War, the 354th Fighter Wing is a U.S.A.F. combat wing based at Eielson AFB, 26 miles southeast of Fairbanks, Alaska, where it serves as America's premier force for Arctic airpower. The wing has flown numerous fighter aircraft over its history, including the RF-80 Shooting Star, F-100 Super Sabre, F-4 Phantom II, A-7 Corsair II, and A-10 Thunderbolt II. Today, the 'Icemen' of the 354th operate F-35A Lightning IIs and F-16 Fighting Falcons, providing considerable combat capability in a strategically important region. While the wing's official motto is "Valor in Combat," the unofficial motto, "Ready to Go at 50 Below," reflects the unit's readiness despite Alaska's harsh climate.
Description: During my flight on Alaska Airlines from Anchorage to Fairbanks on a beautiful day I looked out my window and saw Denali in all its glory. The view was so incredible that the pilot flew a bit closer to the mountain so we would all get a better view. So I decided to paint that incredible sight. Description: This painting was inspired by flights around Denali with K2 Aviation out of Talkeetna, Alaska. The plane is a De Havilland Beaver, and has skis for landing on glaciers on Denali. Description: If you want to get a lot of places in Alaska, you need to charter a plane as access by road can either be too treacherous or simply nonexistent, by sea just too time-consuming or not an option further inland. Whether it’s a civilized weekend in Sitka, dropping in on the small town of Golovin, or landing on McKinley Glacier, an experienced bush pilot is an excellent choice to get you to where you are wanting to go… and back again. Founded in 1968, Whitebear Air Charters spent decades transporting people and goods throughout the massive state of Alaska, and their experienced pilots were at the ready, airport or not. From landing at sea or on glacial snowpack, to the raw bush country landscape, Whitebear did it all.
Description: A vintage aviation adventure design featuring a classic yellow bush plane flying above a spectacular Alaska landscape of snow-covered mountains, forests, and lakes. The artwork combines wilderness exploration, aviation nostalgia, and outdoor adventure with a bold retro travel-poster aesthetic.
