The Roman Baths are a well-preserved thermal spa in the city of Bath, Somerset, England. A temple was constructed on the site between 60-70 AD in the first few decades of Roman Britain. Here seen on a quiet day during the start of the pandemic.

Bath abbey is quite a stunning building, but wait until just the right moment at dusk, and the floodlight and natural light balance to create this stunning effect, which I've painted in oil on a 12x16 inch board.

The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Bath, commonly known as Bath Abbey, is an Anglican parish church and a former Benedictine monastery in Bath, Somerset, England. Founded in the 7th century, Bath Abbey was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries; major restoration work was carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 1860s. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the West Country.

The city of Bath has many beautiful buildings and side streets, surrounding the Abbey, adorned with flowers and table & chairs for al fresco dining (this side street also adorned with a beautiful model!). Bath, originally a Roman City also boasts the famous baths and many other interesting architectural features.

Another view from Bath (Somerset, UK) and its much loved Christmas market. This time I've painted a view from outside the back of the Roman Baths, looking under the arch to the abbey. Lots of fantastic architecture, and a row of market huts providing pools of light for the foreground. Feel free to sup a glass of mulled wine as you feel the atmosphere.
