As a former rower, visiting the beautiful boathouse row in Philadelphia was one of my favorite parts of raceday on the Schuylkill!

The Duke of Portland "Boathouse" located on the western shore of Ullswater in the Lake District. Looking out across the lake towards Gale Bay and Howtown and upwards towards Arthurs Pike, Bonscale Pike and the Barton Fells

The Boathouse broke new ground on the deserted Warehouse District in Austin. Their 10-cent drink nights (yes, 10 cents a drink) brought in the clientele, and Sunday nights featured drag queen Nicole. Other performers followed: Sweet Savage, Natasha Cole, and more. Then there was the dancing!. The boathouse sank from sight in the mid-80s, but its legend lives on. C'mon Austin, let's Dance.

Having just acquired a new Canon 70D (upgrading from my rather ageing Olympus four thirds DSLR) I took it for a proper spin today and took a shot that I have done may times before at Newmillardam in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK. Lens: EF -55-250 IS STM F8 1/750 ISO 100 Got home and processed it in Nik HDR FXPro before resizing in Perfect Photosuite 9. I am pleased with the results and look forward to many more to come with the new Canon!

Sunrise At The Boat Dock is an art print I created using a fauvism oil technique. This technique uses bold brush strokes and bright surreal colors. This particular print depicts a sunrise at a boat dock. The setting is a boat dock on North Lake. North Lake is a small lake in the middle of a large community in Goodyear, Arizona. The boat dock serves kayaks, small sailboats and paddle boats. Missing boathouse night

A picturesque boathouse on the banks of the River Thames between Benson and Wallingford in Oxfordshire. Here the river banks are covered in mature trees and plenty of thick undergrowth. But here and there we get glimpses across the river of views such as this. We are standing on the Thames Path, the long distance trail which joins the Thames Barrier in London with the source of the river in the Cotswolds. To our right is the old market town of Wallingford and to our left is the lock at Benson.

Designed for anyone who wants to remember great times spent canoeing on Boathouse Lake in Michigan.

The sky begins to light up in pink (about 20 mins before sunrise) over one of the many boathouses standing on the southern edge of the Maroochy River on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The boathouse is one of the most iconic and most photographed buildings in the Lake District. It originally belonged to the 3rd Duke of Portland in the 18th century, who was Prime Minister twice and was in constant dispute with the Earl of Lowther. Unfortunately, the Duke of Portland had to sell the boathouse along with his Cumberland estates to pay his legal bills.

Obersee (Upper Lake) is in Bavaria, Germany and it is reached by a boat across Königssee and then walking several kilometres to get to the far end. At the far end of Obersee is this boathouse that made me think so much of the boathouse at Dove Lake in Tasmania, although they are entirely different. Although the weather was fine in the walk there, it poured on the way back and we were quite unprepared. Oh well, getting soaked did not hurt us!
