Beautiful Venice, nothing better than sunset!!

2 miles on the outskirts of Bruges en route to Damme there were some wonderful waterways.

The scene along the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal in West Berkshire. Here it is more properly called a Navigation as it is largely the river made navigable. Here we find narrowboats and other canal craft moored along the banks. Continued walking in this direction will eventually take us to the Thames at Reading.

The Union Canal as it crosses Avon Aquaduct in Muiravonside Country Park, near Whitecross, Falkirk District, Scotland. The Avon Aquaduct runs through the middle of Muiravonside Country Park. Formerly an estate owned by the Stirling Family of Falkirk, this 170 acre park comprises woodlands, parkland and the River Avon. At 810 feet long, this aquaduct is the second longest in Britain and lifts the canal 86 feet over the River Avon. The spectacular views from the top make the climb worthwhile. The Wall of the Old Canal

The wonderful Grand Canal in Venice is an ever changing picture not only because of the different boats that pass up and down it, but also with the light that is different at all times of the day. In the morning it is often foggy or misty at mid day it is very bright and at sunset it takes on a golden hue, Image edited in Photoshop and Topaz cc.

A wrecked vintage fishing boat lies on the shore of Loche Linhe, with the village of Caol behind, viewed from Corpach at the entrance to the Caledonian Canal in the Great Glen of the west coast Scottish Highlands. Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, is in the background shrouded by dark clouds.

Started as a very simple idea about a very simple activity - fishing. Most anglers will tell you it is not about catching the fish but the process of trying to - if they admit to it. It is something you concentrate on to the exclusion of everything else including every day hassles and worries...just a few hours of peace. I tried to capture that essence in this ink and mixed media painting. Thank you for the indulgence. Original artwork digitised. Burano is a lovely little island close to Venice and it is famous for it's painted houses. Legend has it that the fishermens wives used to paint the outsides of their houses while their men were at sea, so that they would remember them and find their way home safely. It used to be a fishing and lace making island, but now it is more of a tourist attraction. As you can see, I went there on a rainy day, but it still had a lot of charm. Edited in PhotoshopCC and Topaz.

Amsterdams Amsterdam Grachtenhuizen Canal houses

The Cromford Canal ran 14.5 miles (23.3 kilometres) from Cromford to the Erewash Canal in Derbyshire, England with a branch to Pinxton. Built by William Jessop with the assistance of Benjamin Outram, its alignment included four tunnels and 14 locks and was completed in 1794. Today, it is partially navigable and partially derelict. The parts that are still navigable are lovely to walk beside, and it is one of these sections that I have depicted here. This is a picture executed in Staedtler karat aquarell watercolour pencil on A3 vif Art watercolour paper.

Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths.

Henri-Edmond Cross (1856-1910) was a French artist known for his Pointillism paintings of landscapes and still life. He co-founded Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris, where he met and was inspired by the Neo-impressionist painter Seurat.
