Nestled among palm trees and overlooking the stunning mar de la Costa Central is the magnificent Estadio de los Marineros — home of the mighty Mariners.

Founded by Herman Steinlauf in 1916 as a music store, Herman’s World of Sporting Goods was a large chain of sporting goods stores in the United States. At one time, there was a gentleman’s agreement with west coast competitor, Oshman’s Sporting Goods, that the Herman’s chain would stay east of the Mississippi, while Oshman’s would be dominant on the west coast. Later on, Herman’s did expand west with the acquisition of Salt Lake City-based Sunset Sports Centers, although this was short-lived. By 1992, Herman’s had 259 stores in 35 states, but the entered into bankruptcy in 1993, first closing stores in the New York metropolitan area, then the New York City stores.

The Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint is one of a multitude of scenic state parks along the Oregon Coast, Located in Bandon, Oregon, this amazing park features beach access, huge rock seastacks, seabirds, amazing wave action, a multitude of other wildlife, and sweeping vistas. I spent hours at this park, not wanting to leave, just enjoying the amazing rock structures and intense waves. If you travel along Highway 101, you will find so many terrific beaches, parks, and interesting coastal towns.

After a couple of weeks of rain this waterfall was flowing well. Just my third trip to Somersby Falls & the first time to the upper reaches of the top falls. A closer version of the Hoop Pine fruit showing the cool pattern on the outside of the fruit. Found on a forest floor near Gosford on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia. Canon 5D MkIII. Scientific name Araucaria cunninghamii. Other less commonly used names include colonial pine and Queensland pine. The scientific name honours the botanist and explorer Allan Cunningham, who collected the first specimens in the 1820s.
