Redtailed Hawk Selfies, Colored Pencil on drafting film, by Conni Schaftenaar Our friend who hunts our farm in West Michigan has a game camera out in one of our wooded areas to track what goes by. This redtailed hawk was returning over several days, looking for all the world like he KNEW that camera was there and he was striking poses, showing off. Our friend showed me his photos, which really made me smile at the antics of this beautiful bird, and gave his permission for me to use his photos to create something. This image will end up with him for his man cave. These beautiful birds of prey are so incredible!

De Koepel (The Dome) at Voorburg – 01-11-18 De Koepel When I go to teach at Studio Brugman, at Voorburg I often come across The Dome (De Koepel), situated in the middle of estate ‘Vreugd en Rust’. When I saw the autumn sun burst through the trees I dreamt myself a link to the ‘inner necessity’. This was felt by people like Alexej von Jawlensky and Kadinsky from the ‘Blaue Reiter’ movement. 1 + 1 equals two: that very sun and the exhibition I visited last Sunday at the Gemeentemuseum. This is a hand drawn maze that was made with pieces from a jigsaw puzzle that if put together, creates a tropical island picture! The maze begins on the top right and ends on the lower right.

Oil Pastel Art | Swing

Originally this work was created as an NFT up on my objkt tezos profile (artist name also RainingInside). The title of the artwork doesn't mean much, at the time I was doing a lot of paranoia artwork and I didn't know what this was about, as I looked at it the words "keep safe" came to mind and so I gave it that title. The image is of a portrait of a person with tears coming from one eye, two eyes are hanging from clouds in the background and looking at the main subject, with trees growing from the top of the characters head. This was a very detailed piece and though it's all done digitally I wanted the marks to have a colored pencil feel to it.

Spring Green Onions in Colored Pencil, by Conni Schaftenaar This was done as a "play challenge" made by fellow artist Laurel Adams. She sent a photo of a bunch of beautiful green onions she had gotten at her local farmers' market and challenged me to play! She has her own, much more complex version with the two bunches of onions shown in her photo. I chose to simplify and do one bunch, and created a streaky, patchy blue and purple background for them. Like the song says, "deep greens and blues are the colors I choose"! (thanks to James Taylor for that wonderful line!).
