Drawn in Illustrator using linocut brushes this piece was inspired by old brass or bronze diving helmets and their contrast with the deep dark sea.

Our octopus has on his vintage diver helmet.

But first: the helmet.

This Vintage Scuba Diving Suit design is based on a submarine armor patent from 1915. The invention involved metal sectional armor especially useful for deep sea diving. The helmet had thick glass ports. The body had a clamp socket for the cable of double hose and electric wiring. There was a search light on the armor and a telephone inside the helmet! Pretty amazing for 1915! Available in a range of products and also with black image on lighter colors.
