From the series “The stars reflected in the eyes”, cementite, oil, graphite, wooden sticks and cotton thread on paper. 25 x 25 cm, 2014. Anything that can be classified in a homogeneous series exerts an attraction on me and an impulse to draw it. Perhaps what attracts me is the research of the variant, the exploration of the rules that allow the inclusion of that group of objects in a single set but giving to each object its uniqueness. So I always liked to draw eyes. Individual eyes, wide eyes, groups of eyes, half closed eyes. To change the expression or play with colors and decorations as if it were a make-up, allows endless variations. Even the constellations in the sky are endless, and I drew these too, as if they were geometric embroidery or imaginary and arbitrary warping created for the sole purpose of interpreting a reality difficult to understand. Then, when the verse of a mawkish romantic song came into my thoughts ("The starlight is reflected in your eyes ..."), I could not resist to create a new series, based on the union of those two, which although have nothing to do with each other, related by the only fact of being homogeneous sets, ready to be classified to quench the thirst of an artist that is anxious to bring order into its chaotic imaginary world. From the series “Imaginary portraits”, oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm A series of very simple small works, almost trivial: each drawing depicts a face and an expression. Is it possible to create a catalog of all the expressions of the human face? Is it possible to classify all the attitudes that our face can take and give a name to each one? No, obviously, because the expressions are endless, as well as the possible variations in the human physiognomy, so that a certain attitude, worn by different faces, can assume from time to time different meanings. It 'a game in which the variables are too many to govern, a sort of indeterminate equation. But then, what sense can have a job like that? Indeed, it could be interesting to investigate why, who portrays the faces, has chosen these, among all the possible infinite combinations. There are some recurring elements? The expressions are mostly happy, or sad and pensive? The eyes are directed towards the observer, or are they absent, facing something hidden? Eventually, this collection of chromosomes will not be able to describe a kind of genetic code, but it will be something very close to the genetic code of the artist. www.saatchiart.com/ico71

This design is based off an original art piece by Ashvin Harrison: This is the first time I’ve created a tree in my made-up style of art. I have been wanting to create a tree for a while now, though hadn’t quite worked out the best way to express movement with a sense of strength and balance. I was impressed by the unique beauty of the boab tree when travelling throughout NT and WA. I felt that this was the tree start my plant art adventure on. This tree has some resin and resin-like mixes throughout. I’ve made up my own unique paint brushing effect to work in the charcoal, which results in a smooth finish on paper and canvas. I then let the emotions run free with expressive splashes and resin-like mixes of paint. This large piece is ready to hang and sealed with high quality fixatives. My paintings have been sold and safely shipped to collectors throughout the world. This may be the piece which speaks to you, if not, feel free to contact me to commission a piece.

This is an original art piece created by Ashvin Harrison. Details about the original art piece are below: My latest bird is inspired by the great Australian native Kookaburra. The intensity and character is what I focused on in this interpretation. I felt that such a powerful bird require a large painting to express the character. I feel a desire to express beauty and life through birds as they represent freedom and diversity in the greatest forms. I use black charcoal in a unique way, brushing with makeup brushes to create a paint effect. I then let go and enjoy the free splashes of colour to create movement and emotion.

This is an original art piece created by Ashvin Harrison. Details about the original art piece are below: My latest dance focused expressive realism piece is inspired by a previous art piece. I’ve had a few enquiries about the pink ballerina and was inspired to see this piece in a large scale example. As I explore new colours and mixing options, I have incorporated some new pinks and one new purple acrylic into this piece. This ballerina is focused on holding onto love and letting it guide her to a greater future.

This design is based off an original art piece by Ashvin Harrison: This art piece is inspired by the night sky and reflections on the water as I walk along the beach at night. Even at night I see some fish jumping out of the water like an interpretive dance as the moon shines down like a party light. I create a realistic mix and dreamlike abstract impression in the tail. I use heavy splashes of paint to express water-like movements. You'll see up close in person a resin effect in areas. I have been creating my own emulation of resin effects using various techniques. I use a paint brushing effect to work in the charcoal, then let the emotions run free with expressive splashes of paint. Both processes are risky as once it is done, no erasing or painting over can happen. I like the risk involved as it's just like our every day existence- we can't erase our actions. This large piece is ready to hang straight out of the carefully packaged box. All pieces are shipped with insurance and tracker worldwide.

This design is based off an Ashvin Harrison Art piece. Details on the original piece are below: This is a focus on a real finch mixed with imaginative colour and movement. I enjoy watching birds fly and as I do, dreaming up splashes of colour as the cruise past my deck in the morning. I image a world of birds in this way, flying in splashes of emotive colour! I imagine a world of people in such a way.
