This design really illustrates one of my passions, and that is horror movies. I love them! I am especially fond of the old movie monsters like Dracula, the Wolf Man, and in this case, Gillman, better known as the Creature from the Black Lagoon. What is also very special about this design is it showcases part of a woodcut block print that I created of Gillman. When it comes to the world of art and design, I believe that sometimes it is best to step away from the computer to get some of the the best inspiration. It also makes for a well-rounded and creative experience. Once I completed the woodcut, I scanned it and experimented with it in Photoshop and Illustrator. My style is very rough and chaotic yet controlled. The rough and chaotic mark marking is contained by the starburst-like shape behind it. The font selection also helps resemble that rough mark making style. When it comes to the tagline on the shirt, I thought back to the plot of the 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' film and remembered that it was set in an Amazonian jungle. The tagline is supposed to be both humorous and unsettling. It is a play on the plot of the film which will evoke one of two emotions to people who are at least familiar with the film. People will either laugh because of the fact that the tagline is welcoming tourists to a place that has a monstrous creature or they will feel unsettled also because of the fact that the tagline is welcoming tourists to a place that has a monstrous creature. Either way, I believe people will enjoy it!

Spoilers (for a 62 year old movie)! The Creature from the Black Lagoon is SO misunderstood. He's not evil. First he's kills some fellars in a camp that just dug up his great-great-grandpappy. You go to the country and dig up some redneck's kin and see how long it takes them to get the shotgun. Next he sees a hotty and just wants to touch her. It's weird, but what's wrong with a little foot fetish. It looks like he stalks some folks next, but keep in mind the leader of the grave robbers is with them. He's just trying to keep his great-great-granny safe. He swims with the hotty (unknown to her). Sure, he got a little creepy, but consider the ladies he normally has to look at. Brenda Tuna-Lips and Gertrude Eel-Breath. Eventually he gets jacked up in a net, speared, drugged, there's home/cave invasion and he's wrongfully imprisoned. I think I'd be a bit crabby too and start murdering some folks. I was rootin' for the poor fishy dude the whole movie. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/
