The day was perfect, the sky a deep blue, the palace so grand. Although built for a Habsburg prince, today the palace complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses a magnificent art collection.
Description: This is an image of the castle at Cesky Krumlov, a medieval stronghold in what is now the southern most reaches of Czechia. It sits atop a steep hill, which by virtue of its loftiness probably made it quite unassailable. On the other hand, I think it must have been a relatively peaceful place, judging by all the windows. I suspect it was more about wealth and the display thereof. That all aside, what I love about the image is the curve of the buildings around the incredibly deep blue sky.

Description: As lighthouses go, this one is just delightful. It was a wonderfully clear day when we visited North Rustico Harbour, on the north shore of Prince Edward Island. I was really taken with the glorious mix of primary colours: the deep blue of the sky, the red roofs, and the shades of yellow and green in the grasses. But the pure whiteness of the lighthouse makes it stand so proud in the bright sunlight. For those who love lighthouses, this image is a gem.
