Happy Fish Hoodies

Happiness (喜, xǐ), written twice, creates囍, representing twice the happiness. The Double Happiness symbol has traditionally been associated with marriage, the matching pair of characters conveying wishes for happiness to the new couple. Today, the symbol for Double Happiness has expanded beyond weddings into general wishes for happiness and quality. Yin yang and koi fish are combined in one symbol that shows the dual aspect of everything. The symbol depicts how opposite things are always connected. It gives a sense of peace and harmony.

This was originally an option for a client I was doing commission work for. They chose a different direction, but I enjoyed the sketch and wanted to finalize it. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

I was doing a mixed media piece of work with faint fish images on it with sections of gold and silver acrylic. Half way through I decided to photograph it and as it was a dull day I used a flash. The resulting images looked like this and were absolutely nothing like the painting. I am assuming it was something to do with the flash and reflective nature of the gold and silver paint, but I was so taken with the "happy accident" that resulted that I decided to use them as Red Bubble images. On Red Bubble is the only way they could be sold as the original looks nothing like these photos (unfortunately). This is a close up section of the painting.
