Ascot Hills Park, in the El Sereno neighborhood, is a modest park in Los Angeles's Eastside -- but one of my favorites. Olargues, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France is in the Herault Department of Languedoc Roussillon in southern France. It is a medieval town sitting on rocks above the Jaur River which almost surrounds it. Behind are the mountains of the Caroux Massif. Nikon D200 Nikkor 18-200

This image is of the delightful Blea Tarn in the Lake District National Park in the UK. Beyond the tarn are the Langdale Pikes, some of the most climbed peaks in the park. In case you're wondering why there's a fence projecting out into the lake, it's to stop the sheep from going around the end of the dry stone wall.

With its bell tower standing proudly above the houses, the pretty village of Olargues which lies in the Hérault department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. This is rated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. In the background are the mountains of the Haute Languedoc - the Massif Central. This image has been finished in the style of an oil painting.

A casual bike ride through the countryside

Found this little church when walking South from Kardamaina, on the small Greek island of Kos. Since our visit in September 2001, this area has been developed into the Aegean Village Hotel Resort. Kos sits in the middle of the Dodecanese Chain of Greek Islands.

Taken this summer (or winter) during my trip to New Zealand. I love it there, beautiful landscapes. This is an example.

The Bollihope Quarry located near the Durham village of Frosterley dates back to the 12th century. Here limestone was quarried for various uses and a special limestone called Frosterley Marble was polished to a high shine. The limestone use in the are is mentioned in the Domesday book in 1183. Now a popular picnic site and hiking area offering stunning views across the Durham countryside

This image is taken just below the lodge at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. We had been driving most of the day, but when we arrived a heavy mist had set in, completely obscuring the view of the canyon. But undeterred, we explored the area near the lodge, where I found this view of the trees on the ridge that leads to Bright Angel Point. There's something very cool about trees shrouded in mist.

The area once used for quarrying of limestone - with records dating back to the 12th century, it is now a picnic and walking area with stunning views over the local moors and fells.

We had been touring the villages of Cinque Terre with a final stop in Manarola, where we enjoyed a wonderful meal. Not being content with the many images I had captured that day, I went around to the north side of the village to get this wonderful shot as the blue hour set in and the Moon appeared.
