Description: Lacey, Washington, was originally called Woodland after settlers Isaac and Catherine Wood, who claimed land there in 1853. When the railroad came through in 1891, residents decided it was time to apply for a post office. The request was denied because there was already a town called Woodland on the Columbia River. Description: A funny take on the God of the Bible. This graphic gives us God's To-Do list so far. This one is really going to get the evangelicals upset. This anti-religion design is really going to get them where it hurts. Show your sense of humor while and your skepticism with this playful design that is either going to make Christians made or make Christians laugh. Good luck at Thanksgiving!
Description: This piece was both referenced and inspired by my lucky cat or in Japanese, maneki neko, collection. I have around 40 scattered throughout my home. Having a lucky cat at home is suppose to bring good fortune and money. Lucky cats mean different things depending on the colour and if it's the right paw or the left paw raise as well as the colour and items they are holding. I find these cute cats lovely to have in the home. For good feng shui, I am told that you need to place them near where you make money and visible to an open door to invite good fortune. Bunnies are hidden throughout the piece. Inked and drawn traditionally and digitally colored and edited in Photoshop.
Description: The Molly Maguires were a secret society of Irishmen that were active in the anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania during the late 19th century, and by active I mean they used physical violence to fight back against the coal bosses whose treatment of their workers were nothing short of oppressive. The design is done in a vintage “chalk board” style which fits perfectly for the Molly Maguires design since the style is a throw back to the 19th century saloon signs. If you look closely at all the different text on the design, you’ll see references to Molly Maguire history. The “coffin notes”, a quote from a Molly Maguire, and the le...
Description: James Heddon came upon the idea for an artificial fishing lure in 1894 when he threw a stick he had whittled into a local lake known as Mill Pond and watched as a bass hit it. His original lures were frogs carved from broomsticks and, over the next several years he shared them with fellow fishing enthusiasts in his Dowagiac, Michigan community and used their feedback to further refine his designs. By 1900 he was selling his lures locally, but as word got out, he formalized things and founded the Heddon Company in 1902. . He continued to make every lure by hand in the Heddon family kitchen, but by 1904 he opened a new factory in Dowagiac. By 1950 the Heddon name was well known and the company would go on to other peripheral fishing gear.
Description: The AURYN is a symbol of the Empress. The AURYN is an uroboros, which is a fancy way of describing a snake that’s biting its own tail, only with the AURYN there are two snakes, each swallowing the other’s tail. There are several layers to this symbolism. First, the snake represents rejuvenation and rebirth since the reptile routinely sloughs off its skin . Next, there is an element of duality to this uroboros that is further highlighted by the two metals.
