Cactus in the Tree - Flood 2010 - Bentsen Rio State Park by Debra Martz I shot this image back in January 2017 while hiking the trails at Bentson-Rio State Park in southern Texas, thinking it was kind of odd seeing cactus high up in the tree. On a return trip to the park in March 2017, I took a tram ride and the driver stopped and pointed out that very cactus. She explained how the landscape was completely changed by the flood of 2010 and the cactus not only showed how high the waters were but that was the only cactus left in the park in the aftermath. So once back home, I started searching through my images. That tree with the cactus now had a story to tell. July, 2010, hurricane Alex slammed northern Mexico and unleashed heavy ...

Grand Central Station, New York I present to you a long exposure of the inside of New York's Grand Central Station. As this is a long exposure you will notice the movement of people appearing like a ghostly image compared to the people stood still while the shutter was open. I think this adds to the drama of the image as well as the black and white conversion. This really stands out as a metallic print but will also make for a great puzzle or mug as a gift. Tuataras are more closely related to reptiles from the dinosaur era than they are to modern lizards. They used to inhabit both the North and South Islands of New Zealand and numbered in the millions. When the first humans arrived from Polynesia they brought rats and dogs with them. Then Europeans arrived and brought more animals. These introduced animals wiped out most tuatara populations. Even with government protection, tuatara populations continued to disappear as rats reached one island after another.
