Pioneer 10 (originally designated Pioneer F) is an American space probe, launched in 1972 and weighing 258 kilograms (569 pounds), that completed the first mission to the planet Jupiter.[3] Thereafter, Pioneer 10 became the first of five artificial objects to achieve the escape velocity needed to leave the Solar System. This space exploration project was conducted by the NASA Ames Research Center in California. The space probe was manufactured by TRW Inc.

The Pioneer plaques are plaques which were placed on board the Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 spacecraft, featuring a pictorial message, in case either Pioneer 10 or 11 is intercepted by extraterrestrial life. But which message would you like to send to extraterrestrial life. Funny message or not.

Mount Sharp, on Mars, obtained by NASA's Curiosity rover. This image has been adjusted to look approximately as it would on Earth to aid geologists in interpreting rock type. About 3 kilometres in front of the rover is a ridge containing lots of the iron oxide haematite. Beyond that is a plain rich in clay minerals, and beyond that hills rich in sulphate minerals. The changing minerals suggest changing environments on early Mars, but suggests that all involved exposure to water. Curiosity, part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission, landed in Gale Crater on 6 August 2012. Image obtained by Curiosity's Mastcam camera on 9 September 2015.

Cosmic microwave background. Whole sky image of the cosmic microwave background made by the MAP (Microwave Anisotropy Probe) spacecraft. This map indicates that the age of the universe is around 13.7 billion years. The data also reveal that the universe is expanding at 71 kilometres per second per megaparsec (1 Mpc = 3262 light years). The colours reveal variations in the temperature of the universe in all directions. This correlates to the density of material at the time when the universe became transparent to radiation, about 380,000 years after its creation. The denser regions (red, yellow) formed the seeds of galaxies and other structures. Data obtained in 2003.
