Communist Party (Swedish: Kommunistiska Partiet) is a Marxist-Leninist political party in Sweden, started in 1970. From 1970 to 1977 it was known as Kommunistiska Förbundet Marxist-Leninisterna (revolutionärerna), abbreviated KFML(r) (The Communist League Marxist-Leninists (the revolutionaries)), and from 1977 to 2004 it was named Kommunistiska Partiet Marxist-Leninisterna (revolutionärerna), abbreviated KPML(r) (The Communist Party Marxist-Leninists (the revolutionaries)). At the 14th Party Congress, held in Gothenburg in January 2005, it was decided to change the name to Kommunistiska Partiet (K). KFML(r) was founded in 1970 by a splinter group from the pro-Chinese KFML, which in turn had split from the Eurocommunist Left Party in 1...

Tomten (sometimes called Nisse) hasn’t always been the Swedish Santa (replacing the Yule Goat); actually originating as a mythical creature in Scandinavian lore that played a role more similar to a “house gnome.” The tomten would secretly live in, or under, a house and protect the children and animals from evil or misfortune. Sometimes a tomten would even help with chores or farm work. Despite being tiny, they were also known to have a temper, playing tricks or killing livestock if offended by rudeness.
