In his 20's my husband built a cottage in the Grampians on a 40 acre property in natural scrub. The view from the front windows is a majestic scene of the Northern Grampians hill face which would catch the light in the morning. Family stayed from time to time over the years. It had no electricity - it was always an adventure going to visit. The Grampians in Victoria offers the most wonderful bush walks..... we often went in winter and would see no one for a week..... This is my acrylic painting of the South Dakota state bird and flower, which are the ring-necked pheasant and American pasque. The American pasque flower is also called the May Day flower, prairie crocus, and wind flower. South Dakota was admitted to the union on November 2, 1889 as the 40th state. This painting is part of my state birds and flowers collection.

Photograph of the famous Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. This is the progress as of April, 2022. It is an amazing structure to behold, with the head of the statue being 3 times the size of the statue heads at nearby Mt. Rushmore. This project is privately funded, was started in 1948, and is still in progress today. Go visit if you can!
