Just got back from a short break to Venice, and although it rained most of the time it is a beautiful city in any weather. This is Murano, one of the nearby islands , famous for it's glass blowing artists. I took the image from one of the many bridges, just after sunset and edited it in Photoshop cc and Topaz FX.

The beautiful Venetian island of Murano at twilight when the street lights come on and create lovely reflections in the canals. I wanted to create a painterly effect for this image as to me it was more an artist's impression than a photograph. Edited in Photoshop and Topaz Studio.

Designed by Antoni Contino and built in the early 1600s, this limestone construction is one of the most famous bridges in Venice if not the world. See wikipedia for more information. This is one of Venices satellite islands, a short boat trip from the city itself and an ideal place to stay when visiting as it is a bit quieter in the busy tourist season. It is very similar to Venice as it is built around canals and has many historic buildings and it is world famous for the coloured glass it produces in the many glass blowing furnaces on the island. This photo was taken just after sunset and you can see a couple of people making their way home in their boat. Edited in Photoshop CC and Topaz.

interesting design on a personal gondola in the canals of Venice

Another memory from a visit to Venice, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This is a busy little corner where two canals intersect and there is a gondola station there with a gondolier waiting for his next customers. The setting sun lights up the colourful buildings and makes lovely reflections in the water. A place I really want to revisit soon. The image was processed in Photoshop CC and Topaz Clarity and Adjust, with several of my own textures added.
