A view of the River Wye as it flows through the Wye Valley seen from Symonds Yat Rock in Gloucestershire. The 5th longest river in the UK (134 miles), the Wye flows from its source near Plynlimon in Ceredigion in mid-Wales to the sea at thr Severn Estuary at Chepstow. The Wye Valley at this point is a popular tourist destination, with views over Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire. The valley, unsurprisingly, is also a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

McArthur–Burney Falls Memorial State Park is the second oldest state park in the California State Parks system, located approximately 6 miles north of Burney, California.

The brook flowing through the fields separating the villages of Tidmarsh and Sulham in West Berkshire. The footpath leads walkers across the water by way of a wooden bridge. This is the view looking west towards Tidmarsh on a winter's day. A little further along the path is Tidmarsh Mill on the River Pang, once the home of Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington. A narrowboat negotiating the River Avon just upstream from its meeting with the Severn at Tewkwesbury, Gloucestershire. This has been produced as a digital painting using chalk effects. Just further upstream is the Severn-Avon lock which enables boats to join the main course of the Avon and continue up to Stratford-on-Avon. Tewkesbury grew up at this point as the meeting of the two rivers was strategically important for a town with a major abbey. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The scene looking eastwards along the River Thames from the road bridge at Goring-on-Thames on the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border. A variety of river boats are moored along the towpath which is part of the Thames Path long-distance trail. A launch is heading towards to lock and a couple of paddle boarders are moving downstream. Here the Thames flows through the Goring Gap between the Chiltern Hills and the North Wessex Downs.

Snow has fallen on the meadow known as Oxley's Shaw in Tidmarsh, West Berkshire. The brook flowing under the wooden footbridge has frozen and snow covers the footpath l;eading over it. This path joins the villages of Tidmarsh and Sulham with the River Pang just beyond the line of trees in the background. It was in Tidmarsh Mill that Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington lived for a while, so it became a centre for the Bloomsbuty Set. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The Summer of 2003 I took this picture after a dry spell. Sgwd Henrhyd (Henrhyd Waterfall or Henrhyd Falls) in Powys, Wales, is the tallest waterfall in South Wales with a drop of 90 feet (27 m). It lies on National Trust land on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The falls occur where the small river, the Nant Llech drops over the faulted edge of a hard sandstone known as the Farewell Rock.

Here the footpath between Tidmarsh and Sulham passes over the stream by means of a wooden footbridge next to an old WWII blockhouse. Just a little further on is the River Pang and Tidmarsh Mill, once the home of Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington. This image was captured on a cold late morning in early February, not long after a light fall of snow.

Boats moored on the Thames riverside just above the old mill at Goring-on-Thames. Just above here the river divides with the navigation channel passing through the lock next to Goring and Streatley weir. Here though it passes under the road bridge before rushing through the sluices and through Goring Mill. But here all is calm, the moorings fronting old half timbered buildings which house amoung other things a dental surgery. It's been a hot summer resulting in a build-up of green weed.

The scene just above the old mill in Goring-on-Thames. Here the river divides, the main stream passing through the lock (just behind us) and rushing over the weir whilst this branch once turned the millwheel. Boats are frequently moored here and opposite are some recently refurbished boathouses and a row of black and white buildings which houses the dentist's surgery! Goring became famous in recent years as the home of George Michael who lived next to the Mill. Digital art from my original photo

It's early in December after a hard overnight frost. The footpath between Tidmarsh and Sulham in West Berkshire is bathed in late morning sunlight. The track here crosses the small brook which lies halfway between the two villages by means of a wooden bridge. Both villages lie near Pangbourne which contains all the facilities such as shops, library, hostelries and restaurants.

The footbridge over the brook on the footpath between Sulham and Tidmarsh in West Berkshire, The path eventually meets the River Pang as it flows past Tidmarsh Mill, once the home of Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington. This image was captured very early in December during a cold snap which resulted in bright and sunny but frosty weather conditions.

Tucked away in the Borrowdale Valley lies an old picturesque watermill. It was at one point considered a bit of a Lake District secret; hidden away from the nearby crowds in Keswick. At the time I took the photo, the river was a raging torrent, which meant I could not get as close as originally hoped!

On the western side of Thirlmere in England's Cumbrian Lake District is a narrow winding road along the length of the lake. Several parking places give access to woodland walks to the shore of the lake. This bridge is on one such walk near the southern end of the lake, crossing a small but torrential stream tumbling down the hillside. It's the sort of bridge that invites you to cross it - just to see where it leads!
