By 1999, Just For Feet had over 140 superstores in 25 states. Several features helped to distinguish Just for Feet stores from its competitors, including in-store basketball courts, walls of TVs airing sporting events, in-store appearances by professional athletes, loud rock and dance music setting the scene, and in-store snack bars. Despite things looking up for Just For Feet, a 1999 game day TV spot ended up being their undoing after the ad was decried as being racist.
