I took this photograph the other day when I noticed that many long tails were congregating on the feeders and managed to snap this nice photo of one sitting still! This design is watermarked with my shop name.

Dreamy Heron ©Debra Martz I had just been admiring another Tri-colored Heron from the boardwalk over the marsh area, then I turned onto the boardwalk that goes out to the bay when I spotted this one in the Mangroves. I thought this was a beautiful, dream-like pose by this Heron as it gently preened its gorgeous plumage. Make Room For Incoming @Debra Martz In Rockport, Texas there is a large stand of Live Oak trees that serves as a rookery each year during breeding season. It is across the street from the bay which is a source of food for the Herons making this an attractive place to nest. Common Gallinule at Edge of Water by Debra Martz It's not often that I see the full length of the colorful legs and feet of the Galinule (Gallinula galeata) so I was quite pleased as this one posed on the outer edge of the water. I, also, liked the patterns made by the movement of the brackish marsh water at Leaonabelle Birding Center of Port Aransas, Texas. Lark Sparrow Early Morning by Debra Martz While having coffee outdoors at my campsite several mornings in a row, I had begun to notice the habits of the birds as they started their day. The Lark Sparrow (Chondestes grammacus) along with the Black-throated Sparrows would forage mostly from the ground but would also perch on this low snag. This photograph was taken whilst on holiday to Tenerife we went to the lovely Loro Parque. This Cattle Egret was staring at us through the trees when I captured this photo.

This sulphur crested cockatoo was sitting in the tree in my front yard demanding that I take a photo of him.

Little penguins are the smallest of all penguin species, standing at approximately 33cm tall. Little penguins breed in colonies along the southern coastlines of Australia and New Zealand. While the thousands of penguins on Phillip Island near Melbourne are a tourist attraction, there is a much smaller population here in Sydney. In the past there were hundreds of little penguins in Sydney’s North Harbour. However, by the 1990s numbers were thought to be as low as 35 breeding pairs. Due to a concentrated effort by National Parks and Wildlife Service, Office of Environment and Heritage, Manly Council, Manly Environment Centre, Taronga Zoo and the local community, there are now around 60–70 breeding pairs.
