This is an image of a Lionfish integrated into my Purple Bubblewrap Pattern. I used a picture I took at the Houston Downtown Aquarium. The Lionfish is part of the Scorpionfish(Scorpaenidae) family and has insatiable appetite. Lionfish don’t wait for their food to approach them, but rather move out and hunt on their own. They have almost no natural predators.

One day I went into my garage and behind a blue curtain in the window of the door was a huge dragonfly. It was beautiful with it’s silhouette contrasting on the bright blue light filling the room. I snapped a shot of it and now many years later I’ve integrated it into my blue hexagonal honeycomb pattern that, that moment might live on. I set it free after capturing it with my camera phone but that moment stayed with me and reflecting on a creature that has survived thousands of years it gives me hope in our collective spirit of survival in a world where there be dragons.
