This image was captured on a cloudy, calm November morning just after the tide had receded leaving rock pools in which the lighthouse was reflected and the morning sunshine was captured on the exposed rocks which seem to glow as a result.

Cullercoats is a sandy bay enclosed by small piers and as such is an excellent environment for family use. The south of the bay is a launching area for local fishing boats and leisure craft. The beach is backed by cliffs, which contain interesting geological features. A marine laboratory, working Victorian Lifeboat Station and Fisherman's Watch House. All of these facilities/features are seen in the work of the famous American artist Winslow Homer.

Just after sunrise on a January morning with a red glow from the pastel colours in the sky, made for an unusual shot of St Mary's Island and its reflection in the rockpools left by the receding tide. The island is situated near the town of Whitley Bay on the North East coast of England and is cut off from the mainland each high tide as the water covers the causeway at that time.

Cullercoats was once a thriving fishing village in the early 1800s and is now home to the Dove Marine Laboratory (Newcastle University) and an RNLI Lifeboat station. This image was taken from the middle of the beach between the two piers just after sunrise on a cold morning just before Christmas and has been re-worked to provide a bigger file size for better quality prints.

This shot, captured near the Shorncliffe Pier in Brisbane, almost seems like a sunrise scene. In fact, it was taken around 9pm under a full moon and towards the lights around the Brisbane Airport area. Pretty interesting what a little long exposure can do!
