Lake Kerkini (Serres, Macedonia, Greece) is one of the most important wetlands and ecosystems in Greece (protected by the Ramsar convention, part of the Natura 2000 network), but, above all is a place of unique beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

Monemvasia (or "Malvasia") is not just one castle, but two! It’s not just one town, but two, the “Lower town” and the “Upper town”. The “Lower Town” remains in perfectly good condition, and it’ s one of the most romantic destinations in Greece, where you can find some of the most picturesque, hotels, guesthouses, taverns and cafes. The “Upper Town” is mostly ruined and only the majestic byzantine church of Agia Sofia remains in good condition. The whole rock of Monemvasia is a protected area and archaeological site. Makrinitsa (or Makrynitsa), one of the most beautiful villages of Pelion Mt (Magnisia, Thessaly, Greece), is often called "The balcony of Pelion", "The balcony of Volos" or "The balcony of Pagasitikos Gulf". Well, here you can see the "balcony", the main square of the village, but you can't enjoy the view. If you ever get there take position on the tables right on the edge of the square, and you'll have the city of Volos and the Pagasitikos Gulf on your feet.

An early morning view across the village of Nimborio on the Greek Island of Halki. The sun had just risen behind me and the mountain was glowing in the early morning light. In the centre of the shot is the broken clock tower. The residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA (descendants of Halki sponge divers who were forced to relocate when the sponge diving around Halki became unprofitable) endowed Halki with money for the stone clock tower. Halki is a small yet very charming island in the Dodecanese that is situated opposite the west coast of Rhodes. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Dynamic-Photo HDR.
