Incandescent Kids T-Shirts

Southern Ontario is home to thousands of farms, each with at least one barn. Although I don't come from a farming background, I do see the nobility in these utilitarian buildings. The simplicity of their designs, the robustness of their construction. Yes there are variations on the theme, but their place on the landscape always looks so right. This image depicts a well maintained barn. It's clearly old judging by the field stone construction of its lower portion. The barn boards are weather worn and aged, and the metal roof has a rust coloured patina, but it seems to have faced the test of time with the fortitude its builders intended. The small silo adds to the scene. They have an overall sense of belonging in this rural landscape.

This artwork, originally captured on slide film, depicts golden maple leaves against a deep blue sky. The leaves above cast ochre and darker shadows upon the translucent leaves, and the dark tracery of twigs produce a filigree across the image.

This is an image of the inner gate of the Golden Gate into Split, Croatia. The gate was part of the Roman wall around the palace that was built as a retirement home for Emperor Diocletian. As an aside, the Roman structures here are home to the dungeon used to house the dragons in the Game of Thrones, actually used as a marketplace today, but that's another story. Today, there aren't a great number of people who live within the walls, so it's very quiet at night and perfect for capturing the Roman and medieval buildings within. I was really drawn to how the gate was portrayed in the lighting. I hope you enjoy it.

Old barns hold a fascination for me. Their sturdy structures and simple designs, brought on by decades of understanding of how to build them right, makes them so worthy. This image, taken towards the end of day in July speaks to how settled the barn seems in its surrounding. I seem to remember that the image was taken in either Huron County of Bruce County in Ontario. Alas, its companion tree, perhaps rooted about the same time that the barn was built, appears to be recently dead. The barn is old, but not beyond its useful purpose. This image is of the medieval barbican gate to Coimbra. Through the gate are the old streets that wend their up through the old city. The evening was warm, and made to feel warmer because of the incandescent lighting. A thoroughly pleasant evening. I hope you also enjoy its warmth.

Originally captured on film in early 1982, this is an image of the snow that fell on a tree on a cold winter's day on the wonderfully clear day that followed the storm. The winter of '81–'82 was cold in London, much colder than was normal, so being able to photograph snow in abundance was a delight. I love this image for the tracery of the tree branches beneath their coating of snow and the wonderful blue backdrop.

While attending a wedding, I ventured outside to view the sunset. I was rewarded with this amazing scene. The air had become completely calm, which allowed for the almost prefect reflections off the water. The golden tones gave a wonderful sense of warmth. All was good.

Incandescence is the emission of electromagnetic radiation (including visible light) from a hot body as a result of its high temperature. The term derives from the Latin verb incandescere, to glow white. Incandescence is a special case of thermal radiation. It usually refers specifically to visible light, while thermal radiation refers also to infrared or any other electromagnetic radiation.

There’s magic in that lamp....what could it be?

This image depicts the wonderful terracotta roofs of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a sad fact that most of the roofs in the city were destroyed during the siege of Dubrovnik in late 1991. Since that time, the roofs have been restored with new terracotta roof tiles, which today gives the city a marvelous reddy-orange glow. This image, captured from the vantage point of the old city wall, provides a stunning view across the city and south towards the Adriatic Sea.
