*Digital Artwork using Krita 3.0* *When I was in Gulgong in NSW – I saw this old timer having a ‘durrie’ outside a pub that was across the street from the café where I was having lunch. I did a quick sketch of him as he stood there day dreaming. From that original sketch as a first draft I then got my pen tablet out and sketched this using Krita 3.0. Gulgong is a gold town and maybe the old digger was dreaming of that next big strike!*

A moment of perfectly suspended silence and beauty. Each window shows details of the life lived behind it, without a glimpse of any resident. Struck by inspiration one evening, I grabbed my sketchbook and pencil. I rarely am inspired to sketch without reference, but I found these shapes came easily. I wanted to emulate a handpainted, with ink outline feel to this work. Natural, imperfect textures were important in this painting. This scene is entirely imagined. Tiny scales reflecting light back at the moon, a flash of light and she's gone. Down to the ocean floor. Iridescent beauty tempting you towards her mermaid kingdom. Krita created repeat pattern based on a scale or fan shape, fitting a watery theme.
