George Lutz Surveyors was a New York-based land surveying company owned by George Lee Lutz. Mr Lutz became famous after moving his new bride and three children into a three-story colonial home in the village of Amityville, a suburb of Long Island, New York in 1975. About a year earlier, six members of the DeFeo family had been shot and killed in the Lutz's new home. Ronald DeFeo, the eldest son, was convicted of the murders. The Lutzes lived in the house for just 28 days before being driven out by demonic spirits and would later be the subject of Jay Anson's 1977 book, The Amityville Horror, with a 1979 film of the same name.

Thirty miles outside of New York City, nestled in the Long Island town of Amityville, stands the house forever linked to the Amityville Horror phenomenon. On November 13, 1974, the estate was the scene of mass murder. Using a .35 Marlin rifle, 23-year-old Ronald J. DeFeo Jr. murdered his entire family while they were asleep, which included his parents and four siblings. Thirteen months later, the Lutz family purchased the home at a drastically reduced price of $80,000 (due to the murders) but only lasted 28 days before leaving it. Their spine-tingling tales of paranormal activity is what propelled the legend of the Amityville Horror and spawned a torrent of books, documentaries and films.

according to Wikipedia's entry on the "Amittyville Horror": "The Lutzes' 5-year-old daughter, Missy, developed an imaginary friend named 'Jodie,' a demonic pig-like creature with glowing red eyes. ... In the early morning hours of Christmas Day 1975, George looked up at the house after checking on the boathouse and saw Jodie standing behind Missy at her bedroom window. When he ran up to her room he found her fast asleep with her small rocking chair slowly rocking back and forth. When closing Missy's window, which Missy said Jodie climbed out of, Kathy saw red eyes glowing at her. ...
