I love the Canadian landscape. How beautiful is this tree-filled mountain scenery?

Moraine Lake was every bit as stunning as it is said to be. This was one of my first glimpses of the lake before I climbed the Rockpile (to the left) and it's still one of my favourites.

A panoramic view of the velvety-green carpeted valley stretching away from Moraine Lake. This isn't usually the angle people look when they are at Moraine Lake, but I'm glad I did because, well…wow, what a view. I love the clouds and the general feel of fisheye they give to this photo as well.

The clouds that persistently followed us down the Icefields Parkway cleared for just long enough that I could get this view -- still bathed in sunlight -- of the stunning, glacier-fed Peyto Lake. Read more: http://www.bootsandabackpack.com/a-sprint-to-peyto-lake/

Moraine Lake is a natural masterpiece as you look up to the head of the lake, but if you turn back you can appreciate all that else surrounds the lake. Here is a view of the "Rockples", from which the millions of photos of the lake and the mountains surrounding it are taken, and the "Tower of Babel", the peak in the background.

Beautiful Nature Scene from Norway

Just a short detour from the Icefields Parkway in Alberta lies the incredibly beautiful Peyto Lake. It is an awe-inspiring experience to look down on the richly aquamarine-toned lake surrounded by magnificent mountains and the glaciers that feed the lake.

The deep blue and emerald waters of Moraine Lake sparkle in a panoramic view seen from "The Rockpile."

Our trip to Herbert Lake was a bit shorter than we would have liked, since it started raining as soon as we made it to the end of this track! Good thing the Canadian Rockies look gorgeous in rain, hail, or shine (although I found they were better viewed from inside the car in the rain)!

This scene, shot near the Fairmont at Lake Louise, looks calm and peaceful…but if you look closely you can see the mosquitos that were swarming everywhere, making it a decidedly uncalm experience for everyone there!

Not-very-nice weather dogged us for our entire drive north on the Icefields Parkway, but it didn't really matter. While we would have liked to have seen the Parkway in brilliant sunshine on at least one of our drives, the angry clouds made for some great scenes in black & white!

When driving the Icefields Parkway in Alberta, a very short detour would take you to the Peyto Lake viewpoint. While the aquamarine colour of the lake is stunning, there's a hint of it on the lower right edge of this image, you must look up to the mountains and glaciers that gave birth to the lake. The glaciers have long since receded to the higher elevations but they have left their mark on this mountainscape.
