Although a very successful invasive species, the rhododendron, we must not forget that these very colourful blossoming flowers; provide the bees and other insects, with ample pollen during summer months... Besides natures ecology, man has a role to play too... in balancing ecological factors.

Not sure what species this is, but it was enormous - at least twice the size of a normal worker bee. Thanks to one of my cousins, who is knowledgeable about these things, I'm fairly sure this is a Carpenter bee.

Pollen everywhere...

Heavily laden with pollen - or a nasty case of dandruff...

An unusual sight . bees don't normally share their flower with anyone else. It's probably because the other bee is a different species.

This kind of bee-wasp encounter doesn't always end well...
