David Tennant wasn't the first Scottish actor to be the Doctor. And Peter Capaldi wasn't the first Scot to play the role with a Scottish accent. These honors go to Sylvester McCoy. Peter Davison was the fifth Doctor. Since his predecessor, Tom Baker, was the Doctor for eight years, the fifth Doctor was developed almost in absolute contrast to the fourth Doctor. He was more cautious, more serious, younger and less eccentric. He wore a Cricket uniform. If you're not familiar with Cricket, it has a very preppy, trim look to it, like something you'd see at a private Country Club.
