Mr. Avocado 1915 Magnet
Mexican Magnet
designed and sold by JCD666
Before 1915, the avocado was commonly referred to in California as ahuacate and in Florida as alligator pear, while other locals had their own various terms for the testicular looking fruit. Yes, it's a fruit, though to further confuse things, they meet the botanical requirements of berries as well. Nonetheless, in 1915, the grower's association introduced the then-innovative term avocado to refer to their produce, and with the new name came their Spanish-speaking mascot, Mr. Avocado. This friendly sombrero wearing fellow showed up in ads and on shipping crates to encourage Americans to buy more avocados. In this one, we have Mr. Avocado saying "why don't you eat me?" in Spanish, which is just perfect.
