1900s Magnets

Mark Twain (1835-1910), US author and novelist. Mark Twain was the pen-name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Twain's most famous novels include 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' (1876), 'Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' (1885), and 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court' (1889). Twain, an inventor and friend of the physicist Nikola Tesla, took a great interest in science and technology. Twain was also much sought after as a featured speaker. His autobiography was published 100 years after his death, and became a best-seller. Photographed by the A. F. Bradley photographic studio of New York, USA, on 20 May 1907.

A replica of a vintage Christmas postcard from the early 1900s. A cute winter scene of a boy and a girl and A Merry Christmas is written on it as well. I did minimal touch ups to the original postcard. I wrote A Merry Christmas over the original writing as the original writing was quite worn away. I also did small touch ups along the edges as it was quite torn. Any remaining signs of wear were left on purpose in order to keep that authentic vintage feel. A great little card or postcard, or a unique design on a scarf or home decor.

This vintage design taken from a postcard that’s nearly 100 years old is adorable. A sweet little girl holds a basket of pansies. Please note that the words, “To the one I Love” appear on only a few of the products, such as cards, stickers and tshirts. These words do not show up on things like phone cases. Just be sure you check what the product looks like before ordering.

Discovery of radium by the Curies, as depicted on the cover of the illustrated literary supplement of the French newspaper 'Le Petit Parisien' for the issue of 10 January 1904. French physicist Pierre Curie (1867-1906) and French-Polish physicist and chemist Marie Curie (1867-1934) married in 1895. The Curies worked together on radioactive materials in their Paris laboratory, and in 1898 they discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. By 1902, they had a tenth of a gram of radium, not fully isolated until 1910 by Marie. Both were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics (1903), with Marie also receiving the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (1911).
